Australian Youth Climate Coalition
Website Administrator (Volunteer)
Designer (Volunteer)
Media Promotions Officer (Volunteer)
Part Time
The AYCC is a coalition of over 20 youth-focused and youth-run organisations from across Australia,
the membership of these organisations is well over 200,000. The AYCC is committed to uniting youth
organizations across Australia, and around the world, to build a generation-wide movement to prevent
climate disaster. We inspire, educate, empower and mobilise young Australians to take action on climate
change whether that be in their homes, schools, universities, work places or as advocates on the national
and international stage. We also provide a space for our member groups to coordinate, communicate and
network with each other, and run shared projects and campaigns.
The AYCC is looking for volunteers to fill the positions of Website Administrator, Designer, and Media Promotions Officer.

Australian Climate Change Education Network (ASCENT)
Events Coordinator (Volunteer)
Part Time
Throughout history university students have represented a key group which drives social change.
It is for this reason that it is important that university students are engaged in creating the climate
change solution. However, research demonstrates that while many students are concerned about
climate change, they are unclear as to how they can get involved. ASCENT organizes events for
university students to educate and empower them to take action on climate change, in their own lives,
their universities as well as in the broader community.
This role will involve organizing fun events that target and engage university students.
Events can include: speaking tours, concerts, bar nights, trivia nights, as well as fundraising
events. A successful applicant will have some autonomy in the design and implementation of
events provided they are in accordance with ASCENT`s objectives.
- Skills and attributes Event management
- Managing volunteers
- Liasing with funders and event partners
- Ability to utilize web resources such as social networking sites
- Ability to work autonomously
- Passion to address climate change.
Candidates that have existing links with a University will be looked upon favourably.
Candidates are welcome to job share. ASCENT seeks to bring this information to the
average person, aiming to transform people`s concerns about global warming into
action, both in terms of changing their own behaviours, as well as challenging wider
community attitudes. We believe that once people are aware of the potential consequences
of climate change they will seek to change not only their own lives, but the lives of those
around them, and ultimately our broader society. As each one of us has an impact on our
environment, every person can make a difference, including you!

Otesha Project Cycle
Full Time, January 19-21, 2009
Have you ever felt that more could be done to make change among youth in Australia?
Are you interested in youth empowerment, environmental issues or social justice?
Do you want an experience that will challenge you, build community, and spread
positive ideas about sustainable consumption? If you’re aged between 18 and 30,
you can be part of the change by joining a crew of peeps who will ride from Seymour,
down the Beautiful Great Ocean road, through the beautiful scenery of the Grampians
and towards Adelaide. All the while you’ll be presenting to youth, empowering yourself,
tour members and community members. All you need to do is apply.

Public Speaking (Volunteer)
Part Time
Would you like to be trained to provide talks to community groups on
promoting climate justice and preventing runaway climate change?
FoE receives requests from a range of community groups to provide talks on
climate change. These are important opportunities to increase awareness
about climate justice and climate change issues, and to promote FoE's
valuable work in this area.
We are inviting applications from people who would like to provide talks
to community groups about these issues on FoE's behalf, on a voluntary
basis (though travel expenses incurred through making presentations would
be reimbursed). Successful applicants will be trained to prepare for their
role, focusing on skill development in public speaking, presentation
techniques, understanding climate justice and climate change issues, and
responding to questions from the audience. Approximately 5 hours of
training will be provided.
Successful applicants would do approximately one talk per month, and we
are hoping for a commitment of at least six months. Handout material and a
PowerPoint presentation (for those situations in which it is needed) will
be provided by FoE for presenters to use.
To be eligible, you must be either a current or former FoE member, and/or
have donated time (e.g. through volunteering on a specific task or
campaign) or money to FoE. You would need to understand FoE's general
principles and philosophies concerning our social justice and
environmental work, and have at least a moderate understanding of climate
change and climate justice issues. You don't need to be a great public
speaker, but be someone who likes to communicate with people and be
willing to improve your presentation skills.
If you are interested please contact Arius, arius.tolstoshev@foe.org.au asap.
